9:37 actually the initials D,B stand for David Brown, a machine tools manufacturer, bought Aston Martin (which gone bust and was up for sale) in 1947. Under Brown's ownership in 1950, plans for a prototype called the DB2 were announced, followed by the DB2/4 in 1953, the DB2/4 MkII in 1955, the DB Mark III in 1957, and the DB4 in 1958, in honour of him Aston have put his initials on their flagship cars ever since.

Much of the problem of Bond dying at the end of No Time to Die is the fact that he gives up. Bond doesn't give up. And killing off your main character is the absolute laziest way to shock the audience.

Tacky is the pejorative word here. The poor special effects, Connery's vacant performance, crucial deleted scenes, and a terrible ending for Blofeld (thank God for FYEO). Worse still, it's sandwiched between two really excellent Bond films that, unlike Diamonds, are bristling with energy and style! Great title song, I'll give it that much.

I've loved the movie since '64, but another unrealistic moment is the small pickup carrying a Lincoln Continental, which squashed or not, weighs 5,500 pounds.

Sean mocks the Beatles just before meeting Smithers (actually Richard Vernon), playing a man on the train in A Hard Day's Night, who"fought the war for your sort." Ringo responds,"bet you're sorry you won!"

Something I found unintentionally funny is that Sean Connery was criticized in Diamonds are Forever for appearing bored with the role at that point in his career, when that's exactly how Bond felt in the novels on that particular mission. It's interesting how the out of order sequence in which they chose to produce the films kind of works in its own way. Really enjoying this side series btw.

The TND entry is a combination of both stronger weapons during the chase and the fact that all ballistic armor does weaken with repeated shots until it eventually fails.

  • @grayfox6518

Other than Casino Royale, I just don't care for Craig's era. The pacing of 4/5 films are too slow, Quantum's editing and writing ruined that movie. Directors of the Craig era relied too much on color grading things overly saturated or too dark, taking inspiration from the bourne movies, or engaging in current politics. Craig's era feels like the gradual deterioration of the Bond franchise's identity over four films. I think the least offensive part of Craig's era is Daniel Craig. The writing and direction of four of his films just feel wrong to me, which is a shame, because Craig earned the role with Casino Royale.

0:51 this is personally the view that I hold on the matter only I go a step further to count Fleming’s novels and (most of) the continuations (as a separate universe to the 2 film continuities obviously). But again that is entirely my opinion, I think yours is quite clever as well. ❤️☮️

“Never Say Never Again” was an intelligent, well-structured movie with a superb cast and good action. It was designed NOT to be another Eon cartoon, like “Octopussy.” Gee, your girlfriend didn’t like it. I guess my life is over! She laments the two hours of her life spent watching it; not to worry, she can spend more time looking at her phone . . . or engaging in even more inane conversation with you. Fortunately I didn’t watch your whole video!

  • @grayfox6518
    @grayfox6518 4 дні тому

My unpopular opinion is I like Never Say Never Again more than Thunderball. I think Thunderball is one of the most overrated Connery Bond films and NSNA is overhated. More cohesive storytelling of the most complex bond plot. One of the only motorcycle chases in the series. I don't care for Volpe as much as Fatima. Medical facility is less boring imo in NSNA. Largo in Thunderball just seems too old and forgettable, whereas Largo from NSNA has an oddball millionaire vibe to him like Elon Musk or Bill Gates, more believable imo. The only things Thunderball has going for it in my opinion is the better soundtrack, Claudine Auger, and the set design of Spectre headquarters.

My hands down favorite of the Moore era. I've always gotten the most enjoyment out of this film when I watch the series in chronological order. The stripped back and grounded approach was such a needed change of pace after the campy trash fire that was Moonraker.

i think for I'm a 90s bond but love every actor that played bond Roger Moore was just to much comedian like not blaming him but the writers and directors back then when Timothy ad came it made bond back macular with Graig he was the rebel bond bring Conrey Bond back that is the iconic and Henry Cavill can do that so make that noise why look for new bond when he was the contender back then and let him get his 3 bond or 4 movies by then maybe ATJ WILL BE MORE MATURE!!!!!! HE IS MARIED TO A MATURE WOMEN BUT STILL NEED TO GROW UP

26:10 in regards to the lack of a gadget car chase scene in the movie, I believe the idea is that the notorious tank scene is meant to facilitate that role. For a long time I too felt like we were cheated out of a car scene, but in reality we actually got a completely unique subversion of a car chase instead, where Bond has all the power in the form of a tank. For the 17th bond film I imagine it was difficult to still throw surprises at the audience, so when the tank bursts through the wall, you knew you were in for a treat. It's just a shame we didn't get to see the BMW because that model looks really cool, but Goldeneye has perfect pacing as a movie.

That was kind of the point of this grown woman who gave you the impression an adult was portraying the role of a kid the whole time. Her braces were crucial to her seeming to be a child-like person. With a woman's figure. The Jaws character's metal teeth were important too, so to the audience, her braces made sense.

I don't think *For Your Eyes Only* is that successful of a bond film, and I think *Never Say Never Again* is overhated by much of the Bond fanbase. I absolutely agree with your top two picks though, as *License to Kill* went from being underrated to easily one of the most deserved favorites. I think most of Craig's films will lower as time goes on and the novelty of new goes away, but *Casino Royale* is still highly entertaining. *Live and Let Die's* spot is deserved as I think for people that like it, it's more of a nostalgia watch. The rest of the list seems pretty spot on in relation to my own, give or take a few films. My top *007* 1.) GoldenEye 2.) License to Kill 3.) The Spy Who Loved Me 4.) Gold Finger 5.) I flipflop a lot on Dr. No/You Only Live Twice/From Russia with love. 6.) Never Say Never Again 7.) Octopussy

The 21st Century is far more sexist and chauvinist than the 60s. Sure, Bond blackmails that health centre therapist into having sex with him, but in the 2010s you can just 'grab 'em by the pussy' ...and they let you, apparently*. *Thanks to Donald Trump for elucidating us all about that.

(29:21) Sorry to contradict, but YES, you can put on a different mask underwater, and in fact you MUST! It's part of the training for Scuba divers, to completely remove your mask underwater, put it back on, and then evacuate the water from the mask, so that you can see clearly once again. If you can't do that, then you don't get your Scuba certificate of competency. If you know _how_ to do this, it's really very easy to accomplish.
